Qatar Airways to upgrade aircraft to a Boeing 777-300 as of October 1

Qatar Airways will be increasing the capacity on its Perth route with an aircraft upgrade to a Boeing 777-300. The increase in capacity will go into effect on October 1 of this year.
The Perth route, which has seen exceptional growth over the last two years, provides excellent connections for passengers to the airline’s numerous destinations in the Middle East and Africa as well as 33 destinations in Europe, through the airline's new state-of-the-art home, Hamad International Airport, in Doha, Qatar.
The capacity increase from a Boeing 777-200 to a 777-300 will bring a 30% increase in seats on the direct daily flights to Perth Airport, with the number of seats rising by 1,064 per week.

Along with the increase in capacity, the airline is also celebrating its two-year anniversary since the launch of its direct flights to Perth, the capital of Western Australia. Perth, first launched in July 2012, became the second Australian destination for the airline, joining Melbourne which was launched in 2009.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar Airways was very pleased to be able to expand our operations in Australia by adding Perth to our network of destinations just two years ago. It has proven to be a very sound move as we have had great success with the route. And now, just two years later, we are already increasing our capacity to meet the needs of our Australian passengers who are extremely keen and avid travellers, with a great sense of adventure. We are very pleased that they continually choose to fly with us and have the opportunity to enhance their overall travel experience with our five-star service and product.”
Australia, with its stunning landscape of idyllic beaches and rugged outback, along with its rich history and culture, draws millions of visitors each year. The beautiful city of Perth, with its ocean side location, sandy beaches, comfortable Mediterranean-like climate, numerous parks, cultural events and outdoor activities is one of the top tourist destinations in Australia.
Passengers flying from Perth to Doha, or onwards to their final destination, will have the opportunity to experience the new state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport for themselves. The airport, boasts a capacity of 600,000 square metres, features 138 check-in counters; family friendly activity nodes; 40,000 square metres of retail, food and beverage outlets; an array of lounges with five-star facilities; squash courts; a gym juice bar and swimming pool. The airport also offers a unique gallery-like experience, featuring artwork and sculptures from international artists throughout the terminals.
It has been a year of milestones for Qatar Airways as along with the opening of HIA, it became the first Gulf carrier to join a global alliance when it became an official member of oneworld on October 30, 2013, offering both Qatar Airways and oneworld alliance member passengers unprecedented benefits, including 14,250 daily departures, when travelling.
Additionally, Qatar Airways was recognised by Skytrax at their 2014 World Airline Awards held at Farnborough this year. The airline was awarded World’s Best Business Class, Best Airline in the Middle East and Best Business Class Airline Lounge.
Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 17 years of operations, and is currently flying a modern fleet of 134 aircraft to 144 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
