Mr. Folorunsho Folarin Coker, the immediate
past Commissioner of Tourism in Lagos, has dedicated his National Association
of Nigeria Travel Agencies (Nanta0 tourism legacy award to his former boss and
friend, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his support to the one Lagos brand.
In his emotion laden remarks after picking
the award for changing tourism conversation and narratives of Lagos as
Commissioner of Tourism, Coker expressed deep appreciation to Lagos Governor
for opportunity to execute his innovative vision for tourism with the drive to
create employment and grow the economy of the state through tourism development
and promotion.

He thanked the leadership of Nanta and the
entire industry players in Lagos for the support given to him as Commissioner
of Tourism in Lagos and to which gave birth to a progressive relationship
between Lagos government and the organized private sector.
“I am pleased that Nanta deemed it fit to
confer this tourism legacy award on me for the little that I did for the
industry under my very short tenure and I would ever remain grateful. Those who
are called to serve, must do so with their whole heart because Nigerians are
watching and taking notes, he added.
In his citation at the event, Nanta noted
Folarin Coker’s revolutionary turnaround of tourism promotion in Lagos,
particularly the One Lagos Tourism Brand under which various strategic tourism
windows were opened and presented to Lagosians and foreigners alike to have an
enduring contact of the rich tourism endowments of the state.
