Southern Sun Ikoyi Hotel 2014 Golf tournament Ends In Style

The quartet of Mr. Ted Iwere, Mr. Tim Ayonmike, Engr. Esosa Ojomo and Mr. Remi Olukoya last weekend won the 2014 edition of the Southern Sun Ikoyi Hotel Golf Day on count-back. The event which was held at the Prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938 Lagos was the fourth edition with over 180 golfers on parade. The quartet involving Omini Ofem and Tony Okwoju came second after a gruelling round on the course.

Second Place Winning team at the 4th Annual Southern Sun Golf Tournament 2014 recently held in Lagos.

 

 

The 18-hole tourney, which employed foursome format of play with the best three scores per hole counting, witnessed a whole gamut of activities with business associates, friends of the hotel, sponsors, golfers and invited guests networking with pleasure. At a post tournament prize giving cocktail held after the competition winners were also announced in various categories including winning female team for the nearest to the pin and winning team longest drive hole with plaques and various prizes awarded to the excited winning teams.

Speaking at the Prize giving cocktail, General Manager, Southern Sun Ikoyi hotel Mr. Mark Loxley commended participating golfers for their tenacity in completing the all-day competition in spite of very hot weather recorded. He reiterated the hotel's continued commitment to fostering golf as a sporting activity within the community. Appreciating the efforts of the lady golfers, Mr Loxley noted that the "hotel is proud to continue in its dedication to providing a suitable platform for promoting golf as a sport amongst women".

Captain of the club, Mr Ted Iwere, praised Southern Sun Ikoyi Hotel for sustaining the tournament. The captain was pleased that this year’s edition was better organized than all past editions with so many golfers and guests in attendance. He expressed enthusiasm that with the support of Southern Sun Ikoyi “next year’s edition will be bigger and more colourful”

To show the tournament’s acceptability, hordes of sponsors queued in support of the tourney. They include G.D. Netter Nigeria, CocaCola, Stanbic IBTC, SAB Miller, Diageo, PZ Cussons, Unilever, Eko Disco, L’Oreal, Aviator Travel & Tours, G4S, Wrigley, Kenya Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways and Mandillas, which staked a 2014 Toyota Corolla as the Hole-in-One prize.
