NCPC SIGNS MOU ON CHRISTIAN PILGRIMAGE LOTTERY SCHEME

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has formally signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) on Christian Pilgrimage Lottery Scheme.
At the event which took place in NCPC Corporate Head Office in Abuja, the Chairman of NCPC, His Grace, Most Rev. Nicholas .D. Okoh affirmed that Christian Pilgrimage Lottery Scheme is not a secular activity  but divine. Adding that every good and perfect gift come from God. He explained that the casting of lot is biblical as he made reference to Acts chapter 1 verse 12-26.
The Chairman who is also the Primate of the Church of all Nigeria, Anglican Communion, stated that Christian Pilgrimage Lottery Scheme is a revelation from God and since it has the backing of the Almighty it would be blessed and successful.
He stressed that with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding the two coordinating Agencies of government would be blessed and the Christians who would participate in the Lottery Scheme would be touched by God when they visit the Holy Land on Pilgrimage.
In his remarks, the Director General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Mr. Adolphus Joe Ekpe stated that the use of lottery in taking decision is both in the old and new testament of the Holy Bible.
He described lottery as one of the tools for national development.
Mr. Ekpe further stressed that the importance of the signing of MOU with NCPC on Christian pilgrimage Lottery Scheme would form the basis for the partnership between the two commissions.
He explained that the position of the regulator is to provide the enabling platform for the operator to perform.
Mr. Ekpe further stressed that the two Commissions must ensure that the operator is transparent and has the financial muscle to run the scheme, because according to him, “success of every lottery scheme is dependent on the operator”.
He hinted that Lottery played in the right way to promote Christian Pilgrimage would benefit both organizations.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), John Kennedy Opara, described the signing of the MOU as historic. According to him, “we have taken the right step and the right path”. He explained that with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, every Christian in Nigeria would be given the opportunity to go to the Holy Land.
Mr. Opara stated that with the signing of the MOU on Christian Pilgrimage Lottery Scheme, “we want to make sure that we achieve self sustenance as a Commission”.
He added that Pilgrimage though part of Federal Government Foreign Policy, the Commission would reduce its dependence on government in terms of funding with the actualization of the Christian Pilgrimage Lottery Scheme.
In the words of the NCPC boss, “we want to encourage all Christians in Nigeria to take advantage of this partnership to participate in this Lottery Scheme. “He affirmed that every responsibility from God comes with possibility and together we shall move pilgrimage in Nigeria to an enviable height with the signing of MOU on Christian Pilgrimage Lottery Scheme’’.
The Christian Pilgrimage Lottery scheme would be test run this year during the October/December pilgrimage Exercise
